F1D ramblings...

... been working on F1D lately. Built a new tailplane for my first,
overweight model. This is a bit larger, yet 100mg lighter (the old was
300mg). Moved CG to 90%, decalalge around 5 degrees. The model flies
most of all Ok, but in a small hall makes a "waterfall" every now and
then. Would not be too worried about that, as I flew the same model
(with a heavy, smaller tailplane) in a larger hall last autumn OK, so I
guess the waterfalls probably are due to hall turbulence.

Also I finished a new model. A bit lighter, this one came 1,45 grams
(the old one is 1,7 to 1,8). Broke the wing however on the first outing.
First of all it was too flimsy, but also seems that my initial trim,
that looked good from F1M perspective, was way too little decalage. This
new model had the same outlines, but nose was 1cm longer to bring CG
forward, for better stability. I mended the wing by adding boron to
spars, now weight is at 1,5 grams, and did some test hops to see that
the wing holds. Found out a hyge need for more decalage, and ended up
with 8 degrees! Way too much I guess? I suppose I should cut that 1 cm
from the nose, and try to go to the 90% CG? Or maybe even further back?

I've heard people use 90 to 100% CG, but what is a reasonable amount of
decalage then?
