Microfilm is a bit of a black art, actually it's more like alchemy. Most
formulations start with nitrate dope (I believe that Litecoat is a butyrate
dope) or maybe even gun cotton (the stuff that they make dope and lacquer
out of) combined with various solvents, and plasticizers to keep the solid
film flexible.

The proper formulation should spread really thinly on water. This is helped
by having a larger pool of water. Some people say you need to use distilled
water, certainly the water and the tank need to be clean, soap does bad
things to film. Some say you need high barometic pressure. Some recommend
cool, but not cold air.

Bostonians can't be covered with Microfilm, although a microfilm covered
bostonian could be fun to build. I think that microfilm can be beautiful,
but it certainly is a pain to work with.
