Fred,
I missed being at the USIC this year. Maybe next year.

From the link below to the 2008 USIC rules it appears that they have used
the same old rules from the past. Not the "new improved" proposed rules.

Following is what I believe are the A-6 groups proposed rules:

A-6 National Rules

1. Maximum projected wing area 30 sq. inches. To facilitate area
processing a dimensioned wing outline drawing with area calculations
shall be provided to the CD.
2. All wing, rudder & stabilizer construction including wing &
stabilizer posts shall be 1/16" Sq. minimum, except ribs. Minimum rib
size shall be 1/32" X 1/16". Posts may be rounded only in the area of
mounting tubes, if used.
3. Propeller 6-inch maximum diameter. Blades to be flat 1/32"
minimum sheet wood, no forming (no twist or camber).
4. Maximum motor stick length 6 inches measured from the thrust
bearing face to the rear hook.
5. Weight 1.2 grams minimum without rubber.
6. Covering: tissue, condenser paper, gampi. No plastic.
7. No High tech materials including boron, carbon, Kevlar and foam.
8. Rubber powered

Comments (not part of the rules):

Note that there are no restrictions on the following:
Tail boom dimensions
Tail area
Prop. Spar dimensions
Prop. Shaft dimensions
Prop. Shaft material
Bearing material
Motor stick dimensions other that the 6" rule.
Also, laminated construction would be legal.

If the above is not the proposed rules perhaps someone can provide a copy.

Gary,

Looks like your team succeeded on the A-6 rules. We missed you again at the
USIC this year.

I believe I gave those rules to Andy (who posted them on SFA). Those are
the USIC A-6 rules with extra verbiage -

Apparently the availability of this set of rules is not widely known.

I think that we should adopt them for the USIC and everywhere else and make
it widely known that these rules are available.

Now someone's mission, should you accept it, is to do the same thing for
P-24 Condor Mass Launch. Hank Nystrom wanted to somehow resolve the prop
question for P-24 and your proposal today of one-piece, commercially available,
unmodified 6.5- to 7.25-in props seems reasonable.

Has anyone tried a 6-in Tern Aero prop for P-24? I think that it is still
available from Peck-Polymers/Tim Goldstein. It has lower diameter but a wider
blade (1.0 in) than the old, P-24 kit prop that was 0.75-in wide blade by
6.88-in diameter. If the Tern Aero prop is good for P-24, then your lower
diameter limit maybe should be lowered to 6 in.

Also Robert Warmann said that the Comet Hi-Flyer from Hobby Lobby came with
the old P-24 kit prop. Someone may need to confirm that RTF plane is still
available with the desired prop.

Carl Bakay looked at all the available small rubber props at one time and
may also have insight into the P-24 Condor prop problem.
