I have a relatively new computer but the batteries will not even come close to working for an all day contest. I always take a 50' extension cord and set up as near to an outlet as possible.
My previous record keeping attempts were pretty sketchy and difficult to use. Other people obviously have systems that work for them. In my case, I set up the computer next to my winder and just punch in the info as I go. It's quick and easy and it does some of the calculations I need automatically.
A lot of people have laughed at me for going to this extreme, but my results have generally improved and I think that's all the approval I need.

Bill,
I should be most interested to see it. (Although I never trust the batteries
on my laptop and would need to find a convenient power supply!)
It is strange that I use a compute a lot and yet this use never occurred to
me although I usually take a calculator for rubber calcs.
And Matthew, thanks for your reply.
John
