The news wasn't all good. The air was never turned off and the room
was smaller than some people expected. One model flew really well and
managed a 1:03 before hitting the wall. Second place was 26 seconds
and third was 12 seconds. Nearly all the models were either from
Freedom Flight kits or Ray Harlan kits. The winning team may have had
some mentoring but none of the others had a clue what they were doing.
It was pretty depressing thinking that all of these kids could have
had nice flying models with a couple hours help from someone.
Next Saturday's regional should be pretty good. I think there will be
several good teams including the Chamblee team I've been coaching, and
the flying site is nice.
