Don't bother with the cutouts! I stick the blades for F1L and ministick onto the sides of the spar using white glue which is non shrinking - much easier, with much less risk of distorting the blade. We use to do this splice method 30 years ago here for EZB because it was the convention at the time.

  I'm about to make a new ministick prop and need some advise. In the half
  dozen, or so, wood blade props I've made the one thing that I've been
  unhappy about on all is the fit of the prop spar to the cutout in the
  blades. Do you make your slots for the spar before forming the blades ?
  Do you make a template for the cutout or how do you go about it ? I'd
  like this one to fit like those I've seen others people use.
