World Record fee update

The new competitions director, Greg Hahn, emailed me that I would not
be required to pay the $250.00 fee since it was not mentioned in AMA's
official document on applying for a WR. He did say that this fee would
put in the book for future attempts. My understanding is that it is
collected only for a successful attempt so that you don't have to pay
it in order to do a record attempt.

I asked him to have AMA reconsider whether they do this at all. In my
case, I would probably have not done the record attempt if I knew I was
going to have to shell out another $250.00. I think this fee will keep
a lot of people from trying for records, especially when you add it in
to the mountain of time and work that is already involved - not even
considering the difficulties involved in the building and flying parts
(the important parts).
