John, Tony,
The Coconut rules come out with the registration package for the USIC. I believe there was a misprint in the rules Tony quoted as to wingspan: minimum vs. maximum of 36 and 30 inches. I'm looking at the 2006 iteration and it's exactly as Tony wrote, but I do believe it's in error.

These are the rules we have used for the last few years at USIC:

  Coconut Scale
  1. Recognizable rubber powered scale model with maximum 36 inch
wingspan for a monoplane, 30 inch wingspan if multi wing.
  2. Minimum weight is one ounce without rubber.
  3. Built up fuselage.
  4. Scoring: Static points via Mooney rules from 10-foot distance.
Flight is from ROG, best of three flights. Tiebreaker is best scale
  ranking.

  Cheers,

  Tony P
  .
