Was shopping today for a few more winders for a 6th grade class to use
to wind AMA cubs (loop of 1/8th). I carry 6 of these for this
purpose, but that puts about 4 kids per winder--I'd like to get that
down to 2 kids per winder. Anyhow, the SIG black 6:1 winders
(actually a POS due to plastic handles that always break until beefed
up with wire shaft) were priced at $23.99 at the RC store,
Sacramento. 6:1 plastic things for $23.99! Maybe a mistake, pricing
clerk thinking they were the 16:1s? But those things were there too,
(also POS) at $29.99.
Online I found some 5:1s for supposedly $5.50 on FAI Supply website,
and some (nice steel handled) 5:1s from Peck for 6.95. (Maybe same
model, I don't know.) Anyhow, if any of you have some unneeded kid-
worthy winders you would recycle (meaning donate!) to a good cause,
please email me off list. (I don't give these to keep, I keep for
subsequent "classes.")
