Microfilm durability

Back in the early 60's I did a fair amount of indoor building using microfilm covering. I used the old standard formula of nitrate dope and castor oil poured in gold colored sheets. The film was aged for about a week and then used. The models were still un-warped and in flyable condition up until the box they were stored in was crushed in a move in the mid 80's. The friend who had placed a TV on top of the box felt bad but just didn't know any better. These were models that I had used to set cat 1 records with so they were not overbuilt barges. Unfortunatly that quality of nitrate dope is no longer available.
