The first week of August is always the outdoor Nats, Monday through Friday.
This year it falls on Jul 30-August 3.
Before you guys plan anything you should go to the master contest calendar
on www.freeflight.org to check for conflicts.
Mid to late September sounds better to me than August.

I love the idea of a "big meet" at Lakehurst and mid August is a good
time as far as weather. Kagan is right its has to do with perception at
that site when it comes to the floor and entry and all the hassles that
entail getting there.
One issue though with an August date is that hotels are very
expensive near the hanger as it is considered "down the shore" driving
30 miles inland is a good bet for a better deal though. Another
alternative is to have it after Labor day weekend, hotel prices drop
and the weather is still good.
