Balsa props

Does anyone know why sheet balsa EZB props are usually made with the
joints at a 45 degree angle to the spar? I'd like to try one with the
joints perpendicular to the spar but I don't want to throw away a bunch
of expensive wood if it shouldn't be done that way. (for F1M)
