Well, yes, that's what was handed down to me, and it seems to work.
THis is assuming you are not stretching out to more than 50% of the
stretch ratio. Of course, if you are one who prefers to stretch out 8X
or more, th3n 50% turns before shortening length would be a quick
disaster.

Speaking of stretch ratio for winding, be glad this isn't F1B, (28
strands of 1/8th) where we used to just pull to motor as hard as body
weight could hold. Doubt if that ever equalled 4X motor length ratio.
In wet grass, baseball cleats would have helped.
