trimming question

I recently experienced an unexpected result when trying to trim a No Cal.
I added some weight to the wing tip on the outside of the circle, expecting
to reduce the amount of banking I was experiencing. Instead it caused the plane
to fly in a TIGHTER circle. At first I didn't believe what I was seeing so I
removed the tip weight from the outside wing tip & the circle got larger. So I
put the weight on the inside wing tip & the circle got even larger. This was
exactly the opposite of what I would have expected. I repeated the experiment
several times & it was always the same. The model in question is a Gee Bee "D"
No-Cal & is being flown indoors.
What aerodynamic effect is causing the circle to tighten when I add weight to
the outside wing tip?
Thanks,
Gary
