Some answers:
I dont know the rpm during the flight ( I dont know if he measured something during his flights because this is interesting if you are using vp prop) but I can tel you he had around 13 min of climbing.

Of course he had a fin, about 80 mm in front of tail, made of boron.
He backed off 30 to 40 turns, I've started with higher torque than him using 1.23 g/m rubber and did around 34 min, and I was over the lamps.
