I learned this the hard way. One of the first times I used my Harlan
stripper I wrapped my fingers around the back and got two little cuts
on my fingers. The cuts bled rather nicely and there really wasn't
that much pain. I have always been careful after that.
No problems with rust, just carefully wipe the blades with a paper
towel or soft cloth.
I thought about adding a shield or guard to the back of the stripper
but never got around to that. When someone asks to borrow my stripper
I warn them about cutting their fingers.
