Barry, the only way I can get anything in the upper left corner of mine
is to push the memory button which will clear if you push it again or
cycle the scale off and on again. Could you be getting an LO reading
indicating low batteries ? I tried with mine and couldn't get anything
like what I think of as a lock icon.
