Hi,
    To really answer your question more information is
needed. But for a SO glider design like on the
website:www.amaglider.vze.com the Cg should be back
about 50% back of the Leading edge of the wing maybe
60% back. The farther back you can get the CG
typically the better the times. But I found at over
60% back the gliders picks up some small pitch
instabilities, trimming for consistant flight times
become much harder and overall times typically go
down. Pitch instabilities are a function of
horizontal stabalizer area and moment arm. So
depending on the glider design the distance you can
get the CG back varies.
    Now longer noses typically mean less ballast clay
and therefore a lighter model. Your SO-BLG should be
at the 2gram min. weight limit otherwise your giving
up a lot. Now longer noses do have some
disadvantages, first the nose is typically weaker and
second the long nose counter-acts the rudder, so
longer nose models typically are harder to get to turn
or need more rudder area.
