David Plane

I posted this on the SFA web site a little while ago but thought it
might be worth repeating here.

I ordered a David plane from www.skykingrcproducts.com late Wednesday
night and received it today (Saturday). Pretty good service!
 
Before I put a blade in it I flattened the sole per Jeff Hood's
instructions. Actually I didn't do the polishing part - just used 180
grit wet-or-dry sandpaper to get it level. This was a fairly lengthy
process as there was a significant depressed area just in front of the
blade slot. I clamped in a blade after the sole was flat and made a
couple of adjustments to the cut. The result was a nice uniform .006
cut. I love this plane already!
