The glider is about 40 si flat and it weighs a hair under 3g. The winglets are almost vertical and are airfoiled on the inner surfaces. First flights will be tomorrow in a 32' site which probably won't tell me very much. I'm hoping I can at least get a feel for the sink rate. I didn't see Aki's Cat I glider until I had started mine but it's interesting that he is on a somewhat similar path.

The glider is basically the MicroPoker concept that Chris used to set his Cat I record. I drew up the plan a couple of years ago, Chris made some modifications and built one and set the Cat I record. This is the first one of that size that I've built. I turned the tips up first of all to lock down the flaps at the outer end. This seemed like a reasonable idea for a glider that needs to climb 50'. I'm hoping the winglet effect will also be beneficial but I understand that winglets have to be designed correctly to be any good. Mine are just a guess.

A Cat II DLG is very interesting. Buxton's glider from last year looks like it's just begging for a launch peg! I've given it some thought but no action yet. I'm flying an Apogee 400 R/C DLG and having a blast with it. I started an outdoor F/F DLG using my beat-up original Apogee wing but haven't gotten very far with it. I'm thinking of installing R/C gear to help with the trimming process.

I will come to Kent if I have anything promising to fly. Last year was pretty exhausting but I'd do it again if I thought I could be competitive. And how could I pass up the chance to be yelled at by an 8X World Champ?

  Hi Bill,
A very nice looking glider. How many sq inches
is the wing and what does it weigh? Are the wingtips
vertical, Ie: end plates? How does it fly?
I am just starting to work on a few fuses for
some Kent gliders. I hope to have a DLG built for
Kent. Kent should be interesting and I am looking
  forward to the event.
