Dear Bill Gowen:

I have never had any problem with the tone of your answers. I very
much appreciate you sharing your considerable experience, and answering
my specific replies in a timely and helpful way. I always look forward
to reading your posts.

I have only been at this indoor stuff for a few years, but learned the
hard way to listen to the advice from the experienced modelers. Off the
top of my head, I can't think of a situation where I was given bad
advice by someone who has been at this for more than twenty years.

Once our SciOly team tried a main wing with no di-hedral or wing tip
plates. We had this idea that we could max out the lifting surface. It
had a nice airfoil shape. Well, you know what happened. On one flight
it just spiraled right into the floor. No amount of trimming could
make the plane fly reliably. We did actually get one flight over three
minutes. The experienced flyers would have told us not to go this way,
and we should have asked one of them ahead of time.
