2/99 verses 5/99 is fairly close depending on what splice you get.
As far as the rubber deteroiating over the years John Clapp has said
this rubber continues to age and get better Some speculate that this
rubber gets brittle over the years We are coming up to the ten year
mark on this vintage rubber and I have seen no breakdown or difference
in 5/99 from when purchased in 99 until now As always keep it in a
cool dry place (closet) Putting the rubber in the refrigerator is one
of those thoings each of us has to experiment. Some say it slows the
aging process. Bob White once told me that putting this rubber in
the refrig may tend to take away from the cruise and number of winds
Again to each their own. Bottom line treat this stuff as gold cause
there aint going to be anymore rubber with these quailties anytime
soon. As far as winding the only downside to 5/99 is when the temp
gets above 80 degrees this rubber gets brittle and will break way
before you are done getting to your numbers. Not as big as a problem
for indoor verses outdoor I would use 5/99 in the morning and switch
to a more sturdy rubber towards the heat of the day during a contest.
