2/99 verses 5/99 is fairly close depending on what splice you get.   
As far as the rubber deteroiating over the years  John Clapp has said 
this rubber continues to age and get better   Some speculate that this 
rubber gets brittle over the years  We are coming up to the ten year 
mark on this vintage rubber and I have seen no breakdown or difference 
in 5/99 from when purchased in 99 until now   As always keep it in a 
cool dry place (closet)  Putting the rubber in the refrigerator is one 
of those thoings each of us has to experiment. Some say it slows the 
aging process.   Bob White once told me that putting this rubber in 
the refrig may tend to take away from the cruise and number of winds   
Again to each their own.  Bottom line treat this stuff as gold cause 
there aint going to be anymore rubber with these quailties anytime 
soon.  As far as winding the only downside to 5/99 is when the temp 
gets above 80 degrees this rubber gets brittle and will break way 
before you are done getting to your numbers.  Not as big as a problem 
for indoor verses outdoor   I would use 5/99 in the morning and switch 
to a more sturdy rubber towards the heat of the day during a contest.
