We had a discussion here in Finland on how to make F1M a beginners class
again. One idea was to introduce 1-design addendum to to class, meaning
that if you fly with a model build per Moustique drawings (short stick
fuz, solid balsa prop with no VP), you will still participate in the
"open" F1M, but your score would be also picked to the "beginners" list,
presented separately. This way you would be "in" the main class all the
time, and make a transition into only the open when you would feel
confident to start modifying your model beyond the original Moustique. We
have not tried that yet, though.
