Re: Building A-6 , some problems
I'm new to A6 but I'll give you an opinion on your questions.
I don't see a problem with your prop spar configuration.
The new "A6 national rules" have omitted the part about the spars having to be un-rounded and just give a minimum size of 1/16" square. I'm not really sure what the intention is here. A wider spar with the edges rounded would probably be an advantage if legal and if you stayed under the weight limit.
A6 is not an official AMA event so there are no official records. Tom's time at USIC 2006 is the highest one that I know of.
My last flight at USIC landed about 40' up in the seats at 9:10 after a rubber tangle on the rear hook. I think I've got the front hook problem solved and have some ideas about the rear hook. I probably won't get a chance to fly A6 in a high ceiling again until next year at USIC.

Subject: [Indoor_Construction] Building A-6 , some problems
Hello
Im building my first A6, and I have some questions
about the propeller. The rules say:
"3. Propeller 6-inch maximum diameter. Blades to be flat 1/32"
minimum sheet wood, no forming (no twist or camber)."
But is any limit on prop spar? I like to use a round tapered spar, and
build a hub with paper tubes. Is this ok? If not... how it has to be?
Now, on wing ans stab structure, rules say:
"2. All wing, rudder & stabilizer construction including wing &
stabilizer posts shall be 1/16" Sq. minimum, ..."
So, can I use bigger that 1/16" Sq.?
If I use bigger dimension it still has to be square?
I like to use 1/16" x 3/32" in wing spars.
Finally, I have seen in last USIC results, where Tom Sova and Gary
Hodson (im building wis Wart model) to break th 10 minutes. What
incredible times!!
Is Tom Sova time, 0:10:21 the national A-6 record?
What CAT (roof ceiling) was Usic-2006?
And what are the best times for A-6 in CAT I, II, III and IV?
mmm. Thats a lot of questions. :)
Thanks.
Ignacio.
