Hi,
Kent 2006 was a very well run contest. We should
all thank the Cleveland Free Flight Society and the CD
Michael Zand for holding this great event. The
building is a perfect Cat 2 site for gliders. The
ceiling is very close to the Cat 2 limits and the
floor space is huge. The building houses a football
field and there is a full size track around the
football field. It is a great place to fly in. The
air was good honest air, like what I typically see at
Johnson City, Tn. If the AMA was thinking of building
a Cat 2 site at Muncie, I think they should just copy
the Kent Fieldhouse, it would be hard to do any
better.
In standard I was flying a 2.9 gram Time Machine.
The unlimited catapult glider I was flying a modified
Slowpoker that Stan Buddenbohm designed many years
ago. The modified Slowpoker which I am going to call
a Cat-Poker weighed 8.9 grams. I plan to post the
drawing of the Cat-Poker on the amaglider website in
the next couple of weeks.
I was lucky to do what I did. There were some
great glider flyers at this meet. Jim Buxton, Chris
Goins, Bill Gowen, Ken Krempetz, Rob Romash, and Don
Slusarczyk are in my opinion some of the best glider
guys in the US.
