I had a great time in Kent.
The UCLG battle was probably my favorite part. Intense! Kurt had a 9g
glider that he could put right in the peak of the roof. He was turning
high 50's, depending on the rollout. His record flights were 58 and
61s, I believe.
I had an 8g glider (converted from Cat I duty) that was getting up
about 45 feet. I was doing steady 56's, maxed out at 56.7s. Good
enough for the old record, but not good enough to beat Kurt! Next
year, next year.
The flaps on my Standards were not up to the challenge of a 60 foot
climb. I put them away after dorking them into the Astroturf and
exploding the fuses.
Buxton's HLG was awesome. You could hear the sonic boom pop when he
lobbed that thing, too. I heard someone say "pterodactyl" at some
point in the day.
Zaluska topped his Autogyro out at 13:40 or thereabouts. He got into
the 13's 3 times throughout the day, but never had 2 watches running
on any of them from start to finish.
Nick Ray set a Ministick record, hopefully he will post some details.
I'm off to build some stuff for USIC. Getting your butt whooped is a
great motivator!
