Jeff,
I stayed in the ETSU dorms many years ago (90 and 91). They are non AC and
of course no TV. They are walking distance form the dome however.
But, with hotel rooms so cheap in JC, I don't think the dorms are worth it.
There are several decent local motels that are around $30-40. Last year the
red roof inn was like $45. The town is usually deserted the first week in
June so rates are always low.

I've never been down to USIC, and was wondering how many stay in the
dorms (vs getting a hotel room...)
I saw on the entry form that you have to bring sheets and pillows, but
for the cost, if it is close, it seems like a pretty good bargin...
Or does anyone have any recommendations...?
