There is a contest in Flint, Michigan on May 7, the Cloudbusters from Detroit host it. It's a good contest, we fly in a golf dome that's about 80' tall. I don't think the flyer is out yet though. We fly mostly Limited Pennyplane, ezb, and ministick at this contest. I believe they also have a competition for the current rules for SO, however they only allow kids to fly it. You should definitely come check it out.

  Hello to everyone,
I am new to the group, and very new to indoor flying. I grew up
flying rubber with my dad when I was a kid. You remember the old
Gullows kits and tissue. I moved to control line and eventually RC
planes, gliders, boats, hovercraft, electric, steam powered models,
and almost anything else I could build.

This winter I was helping out with my sons Science Olympiad tower
building event, and I happened to see the SO team in the gym flying.
I was hooked. My son doesn't fly SO, but I have built several
planes, spent a few Saturdays flying with the team, and I have
managed to stand on the shoulders of those that have gone before me
and I am now getting some pretty good flight times and I am having a
  ball.

I have made a first attempt at an EZB, a penny-plane, and a mini-
stick with varying levels of success. I am doing much better now
that I have a copy of Ron Williams book! It's great to read your
ideas and advice on this forum, I really appreciate it.

My question is about flying sites and events, does anyone know if
there are events in, or near West Michigan? Or am I destined to
fly in the local school gyms?
  Scotty
