fudge factor question

Don, I understand you provided the fudge factor formulas for the postal
contest now hosted on Indoornews.com.

Could you please explain the math rationale behind the differing
formulas? For example the ministick formula contain a square root of
the ceiling height, whereas the formula for ezb does not contain a
square root of ceiling height.

(BTW, the real world examples I have plugged in for ministick
times/ceilings seem pretty fair to me, but plugging in some super low
ceiling values for ezb do not seem so fair.)
