I see your point but I can't imagine that this would be a problem. It would take a really anal CD to object to sheet tip plates.
On second thought it might be a problem!

The large stab Finny-06 looks very good. I think there may be a design
issue, however.
One of our Wright Stuff students pointed out last week that the new
rules do not allow "solid balsa wings or tail assemblies" and that sheet
balsa fins on the stabilizer might be open to question by judges.
It would be very bad to have such a point brought up at the last minute,
as would likely be the case. -jiml
